Pratham Community Celebrates Summer and Reading
On Sunday, July 19, 2015, volunteers and supporters gathered for our inaugural Pratham Chicago summer picnic.
The weather cooperated wonderfully for a perfect outing at beautiful Glencoe Beach on the North Shore. Families from our rapidly growing Pratham community mingled under a shady trellis by the blue waters of Lake Michigan while enjoying freshly made dosas.
Special guests, Readathon co-chairs Vineeta Salvi and Yogi Patel, flew in from Dallas to join the festivities and congratulate the kids from the Chicago chapter for winning top honors in the Pratham USA Readathon’s Free to Read Matching Challenge, which ended on July 15. Eight young readers who raised the most funds during the challenge were recognized.
