Pratham Raises $1 Million to Keep Kids Learning

Thanks to your support, Pratham raised over $925,000 during the six-week 2014 Skoll Foundation Social Entrepreneurs Challenge. Our third-place finish out of 67 leading entrepreneurs ensured an additional $150,000 in prize money and matching funds, which will go a long way toward improving the quality of education of India’s children.

A 2011 recipient of the Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship, Pratham is recognized for the global impact of our innovative literacy programs. Since our inception, we have reached more than 40 million children through our low-cost and scalable literacy and learning programs. Our Annual Status of Education Report pioneered the measurement of student learning, and its results provide a voice for communities to influence educational policy on both local and national levels.

The second annual challenge far exceeded the initial target of $4 million set by Skoll, with a final tally—including matching funds and prizes—of $11 million dollars.
