DFW Parents Make Philanthropy a Family Affair

For her sixth birthday, Anusha Chepuri wanted a big party with cupcakes but insisted that she didn’t want any presents. Inspired by her older brother Nikhil, who had foregone gifts for his birthday the previous year, she asked friends and family to donate to Pratham in lieu of buying her gifts. Her altruism raised over $800 to help kids in India.

DFW Community Honors Local Philanthropists, Raises $1.2 Million at Annual Gala

Close to 400 supporters from the greater Dallas Fort-Worth community filled the majestic Marriott at Legacy Town Center on September 10 for an evening of celebration and laughter and to raise funds for the Pratham’s innovative, award-winning educational programs.

Pratham Dallas-Fort Worth Hosts Musical Event and Donor Appreciation

On Saturday, June 18, Pratham’s DFW chapter held a concert at the Dallas Palms in Carrolton to honor prominent supporters from the local Pratham community for their commitment and generosity.

The evening’s honorees included Paul and Geetha Pandian, Shridhar and Anji Mittal, and Raj and Aradhana Asava. Past chapter president Sri Sridharan was also recognized for his tireless efforts on behalf of Pratham DFW.

DFW Hosts Inaugural Run/Walk for Education

On April 24, members of the DFW community gathered at McKinnish Park in Carrollton for the inaugural Pratham DFW Run/Walk. The event drew 160 participants, who competed in 1-mile and 5K races and enjoyed great food and family-friendly activities.

Through sponsorships and online pledges, the event, which was the vision of DFW board member Rohini Mehta, raised over $9,000 to support Pratham programs.

India’s Biggest Educational Challenge: How to Improve Learning

For ten years, Pratham’s Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) has informed communities and leaders that India’s elementary education is in dire straits. Only half of children in Grade 5 can read at the second-grade level or solve a simple two-digit subtraction problem. That’s about 100 million Indian children who are expected to move forward in life without having grasped the fundamentals.
