Sachin's Story: A Learning Experience

“These kids truly were excited, and had a true, deep desire to learn.”

Sachin Chanchani and his family have been committed Pratham supporters for several years.  While his parents served on the Houston board, young Sachin, as a participant of the Pratham USA Readathon, was reading books to help raise funds for kids in India. In 2015, he and Indrani Maitra raised $10,000 through their efforts.  He spoke at the annual gala imploring guests to give generously because as he put it, “with $25 they can buy two pairs of Nike athletic gym socks or they can educate a child for an entire year in India.”

Last year, when his family moved to Mumbai,  Sachin decided he would continue his advocacy for Pratham by serving as a link between US donors and the work on the ground.  He’s been writing about his experiences in India starting a Community and Social Responsibility Club, visiting a Balwadi and being inspired by a little boy named Amu.
