“What is our school model?” exclaims Dr. Chavan. “It asks teachers to complete the curriculum in a prescribed time. You can rush through it if you like, but you have to complete it. Nobody has laid down that certain measurable outcomes should be attained.”
Pratham’s literacy and learning programs aim to correct this by tailoring lessons to a child’s ability rather than age and ensuring that every student masters the basics before moving on.
