PraDigi: A New Way to Engage Children in Learning

On August 29 in New Delhi, Pratham unveiled its latest innovation, PraDigi. In addition to providing tablets to rural communities, this digital initiative includes a learning app that offers children high-quality, interactive content to improve their basic literacy and numeracy skills, support their subject-specific competencies, and promote their ability to think critically and work collaboratively.

Currently, 25 games and more than 500 videos are available for three age groups in 11 Indian languages (Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Odiya, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, and English).

At the launch, Dr. Rukmini Banerji, CEO of Pratham, explained that the organization had worked largely without digital resources over the last two decades, but given the increasing pace of access and affordability of technology, it was time for Pratham to explore new domains.

She also stressed that Pratham would experiment with various EdTech approaches and measure the impact of different methods and techniques on children’s learning and development.

The challenge will be to figure out what will work for 100 million children year after year while remaining cost effective. But the goal has never been clearer: to close the learning gap which keeps millions of children from realizing their full potential.

Technology offers an incredible set of possibilities to promote learning that didn’t exist just a few years ago. Watch the video to see how Pratham is using EdTech approached to deliver quality education.

The PraDigi app is available for free at the Google Play Store. Download it today!
