Pratham CEO Dr. Rukmini Banerji speaks at Devex World 2022

Pratham CEO, Dr. Rukmini Banerji, joined an expert panel of speakers as the international development world gathered for Devex World 2022 in July.

Rukmini shared details of Pratham’s innovative work during the pandemic and delivered a challenge to educators around the world: “We must make the most of this moment.”

The event, hosted online and in person in Washington, DC, brought together more than 1,000 thinkers, change-makers and experts from the field of global development, with a single focus: turning transformative ideas into action.

Innovators in education

Rukmini took part in a panel titled ‘Ahead of the curve: Innovators in education’, discussing innovations in learning that arose from the Covid pandemic.

She described Pratham’s rapid response when the crisis broke, managing to connect to over 300,000 children, teachers and parents within a month, and how acting fast can be an innovation of itself.

A call to action

Rukmini also discussed the merits of Pratham’s ‘teaching at the right level’ methodology, and how it interlinked with the disruptive nature of the pandemic, before ending with a stirring call to action: “We must make the most of this moment, and come back much stronger than we were before Covid.”
