About the Program

The Pratham Youth Summer Program is a 10-day immersive experience held in Aurangabad, India. It's open to participants aged 16 to 19 years old and will take place from July 25 to August 4, 2024.

It offers participants a unique opportunity to travel and participate in community service and cultural immersion at the Pratham Arora Centre for Education. The program is carefully crafted to provide young participants with the chance to engage directly with Pratham's programs, take part in hands-on community activities, and witness the impact of our work firsthand. It's an incredible opportunity to not only contribute to meaningful initiatives but also to gain valuable insights and experiences that will last a lifetime, plus instill confidence in young minds.

HOW TO APPLY

Applicants must submit their resume, current grade level, contact details of their parent or guardian, and a short essay (max. 300 words) describing their interest and motivation to participate in the program to youthleaders@prathamusa.org. Following an initial review, candidates will be shortlisted for interviews. Spots will be filled on a first-come, first-approved basis.

Program participants will have the opportunity to engage in a diverse range of activities. They will:

  • Experience the Pratham Science Centre
  • Spend time at the Pratham Learning Village
  • Engage in language exchange sessions
  • Participate in digital literacy lessons
  • Tour the PACE Centre
  • Visit Kailash Temple, Aurangazeb Tomb, Daulatabad Fort
  • Make a trip to Aurangabad City

Frequently Asked Questions


What's included in the fee?

The program cost includes food, accommodation, local transportation to program visits, local activities, and airport transfers from the Aurangabad airport to the PACE Centre. Please note that airfare is not included. Participants are responsible for booking and paying for their flights to and from Aurangabad.

Where will the participants stay?
The participants will stay at the PACE Centre which is equivalent to a 3-star hotel in India. The center has AC, internet and hot water. The participants will stay in double rooms which they will share with fellow participants.

Does each participant need an adult chaperone?
No, the participants take part on their own in the program. Parents or guardians can choose to accompany their children on the journey to India. Participants will be picked up at the airport and driven to the PACE Centre.

Will this program be offered again in 2024?
We are only offering this program from July 25 to August 4, 2024. It is a specially designed and curated program and will only be run during these dates this year.

Can a participant attend only part of the program?
No. Participants need to be present for the whole duration to get the most out of the program.

What meals will the participants get?
Food will be prepared daily onsite. A menu will be set in advance with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.

What is the best way to travel to Aurangabad?
Flights are available to Aurangabad from Mumbai and Delhi daily.

Do the participants need travel insurance?
Yes, all participants must have travel insurance for their trip.
